Dental Implant Procedure
Dental implants are artificial teeth or false that are used to take the place of missing teeth. Dental implants are made of metal, usually titanium as it bonds well biologically with the living bone . Dental implant procedure is the complete end to end process once a person enters the dental clinic the first time until he leaves the clinic with her wonderful smile restored.
The complete dental implant procedure is a joint effort between the surgical dentist who is responsible for setting up the dental implant and the dentist who takes care of the final tooth restoration.
This method of the dental implant is made of two stages . There is a minimum gap of 3 months healing period between the two stages .
The dental implant surgery : This stage involves the introduction of the surgical implant dentist in the jawbone . This phase starts with the administration dentist to desensitize the area where the implant is to be placed surgical anesthesia . Once the area is inactive , the dentist creates an incision in the gum tissue and the exposed jaw bone . Then a special drill is used to make a hole in the bone and water is passed through this hole to prepare the bone site . Now , the metal implant is twisted and placed in the right place . Finally the dentist closes gums with several stitches and the opening in the bone is covered and allowed to heal for at least three months or more . During the months of healing , the jawbone is growing about the implant and the implant is structurally and functionally connects to the bone. This process is called osseointegration.
Restoration of the implant : This step requires the dentist puts a state like object on top of the implant. Post the healing period , the surgical dentist inspects the condition of the jawbone and once it is satisfied that the implant is secured , another hole is drilled just above the implant and a metal cylinder called an abutment is attached . The artificial tooth is integrated with said abutment . Once the abutment is adjusted up , the dentist measures and determines the size of the artificial tooth , and details are sent to the dental laboratory to the construction of the false tooth . Until the final tooth is ready, a temporary tooth implant will be placed on the pier. Once the reconstructed tooth is ready, the dentist places the new tooth and makes some final touches if necessary.
Both procedures are very simple and common . In cases where the jawbone is not a suitable candidate to start dental implant surgery , it is designed and remodeled by bone grafting or sinus lift process so that it is able to receive the implant .
The time required to complete the dental implant procedure may vary from one individual to another depending on the anatomy of the individual , physical fitness and other oral hygiene. However, the maximum duration is consumed by Osseointegration or the healing process . For more information about dental implants please visit our website.
There are cases where dentists can restore the false tooth right on the day of surgery. This is called immediate loading and takes less time . This allows the individual to walk home with her smile restored on the same day .
